HDFC Not Report Complete Information to Cibil
« on: June 10, 2015, 08:35:35 PM »
Hi,

I recently got a Credit Card from HDFC (my third credit card). The issue is that HDFC is not reporting my credit limit to CIBIL, which is ₹45,000 but they are only reporting the outstanding amount on the credit card.

I have other two credit cards (SBI & Kotak) and both of those lenders are reporting everything to cibil on monthly basis.

The problem is HDFC is my credit card with the largest credit and if they don't report my credit limit - my overall credit utilization ratio is going very high (about 80-85% ) where as if they report my credit limit the credit utilization will be under 35%.

I contacted Cibil and HDFC and none of them have been of any help.

What can I do to get HDFC report my credit limit to CIBIL along with outstanding?

What are the RBI guidelines for lenders to report credit information with CIBIL or can lenders just randomly choose which by themself which information they will share with CIBIL?

Thanks

Excellent Question.

I had raised this question in 2010 and RBI's Response is as below.

From what I have seen across various credit reports, it is mass practice by various banks that they do not report the credit limit. Just give High Credit Used. We can't do much about it, just move on the Banks are getting bigger to Fight and RBI is not very customer friendly either. They just word their rules & regulations - "Fair" banking practices.
