Title: Rajan Effect - Bank DEposit Growth Picks Up

Indian banks' Deposit growth accelerated to 14.8% as of Oct 4, 2013, from 14.1% as of Sept 20, 2013. Time deposit growth picked up to 15.2% YoY vs. 13.7%. Demand deposit growth slowed to 11.6% from 17.7% YoY.

The deposit base increased by US$28.5bn (+2.6%) in the fortnight ended Oct 4. compared with an increase of US$0.4bn (+0.04%) in the
last fortnight. Outstanding loans increased by US$7.6bn (+0.9%) vs. an increase of US$0.6bn (+0.1%) in the previous fortnight
