Fight for Supremacy HUL, Dabur, P&G

HUL took 15-20% price cuts for its detergent bar portfolio (Wheel, Rin and Surf Excel). It also initiated consumer promotional offer of 20% extra grammage for Clinic Plus shampoo sachets (post similar move by P&G last month)

Dabur India introduced 5-6% price hike for Amla hair oil, 3-4% for glucose products and 10-11% for air care products to mitigate impact of rising input costs.

P&G registered double digit growth in India with broad based growth across most of the categories it is present in - Olay skin care has gained 5% share, re-launch of low cost MACH3 razor led to 40% growth in shipments and Tide shipments in India were up nearly 30% following the launch of Tide Naturals. Several important horizontal portfolio expansions of Gillette and Olay brand names into male personal care are also underway globally which in our view could be extended to India in future as well.
