Issues with Barclays Credit Card

I got Barclays Credit Card in 2006. Credit limit is 16k. Totally i used for 11k and paid back more than 20k. Later i moved from chennai and i was not aware that this issue is still continuing. Barclays in initial days had worst customer service and collections. I complained long back that I want to close my card account. But their manager that time in 2008 told me to pay some amount, so that he would close acct. But no use the employees got money and resigned the job. When I complained in bank, they told me that those employees resigned and I have to pay again. Till date they are troubling me to pay. Now outstanding is 67k. I been cheated by collection agents sent by bank. I'm not ready to pay anymore. I never used this card after that. Let me know how i should deal with it.

You may have genuinely paid the amount that you owed. But the questions remain,

1. Did you pay by a Crossed Check ?
2. Do you have the letter of settlement or dues against which you have paid ?
3. Do you have any documentary evidence to support your claim ?

If so, then directly approach the Banking Ombudsman of Barclays Bank and ask for Fully Paid Up Credit Card and A/C is closed.
